Description:

Vulnerabilities have recently been discovered in processors that are
used in our products. These vulnerabilities could allow attackers to
access sensitive data. According to the most current information
available, it appears that Intel processors are the ones most directly
affected by these vulnerabilities. However, we cannot yet confirm that
processors from other manufacturers are unaffected.
We are already working closely with manufacturers to provide you with
the necessary microcode updates as quickly as possible. We will post
updates here once these updates are available, and once we have any new
information about affected systems.
Updates to the operating systems are also required. We recommend to
update your installed systems as soon as the updates are available.
We have prepared a wiki page to provide you with more information on the
vulnerabilities, including an overview of our affected products and links
to further information on all our operating systems on offer:

We will very likely be making updates over the next few days due to the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities that we have already mentioned in the status report "Information about the Spectre and Meltdown CPU vulnerabilities" and in our wiki article here https://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Spectre_and_Meltdown/en. We will need to restart the above-named vHosts so that we can make the security updates. We are not yet sure exactly when we will be able to perform these security updates, because we don't yet know when the updates will be available to us. However, we will inform you here as soon as possible once we have more information. We may do these updates, and therefore restart the vHosts, with little warning since the updates are extremely important. We appreciate your patience and understanding with this matter.
We anticipate that there will only be a few minutes of downtime while we restart the vHosts.
All vServers will be automatically stopped before the updates and will then be restarted. |

The support for PHP versions 4 and 5.2 will be discontinued for all web hosting accounts and managed servers starting on 31 October 2017. All calls to the outdated versions of PHP will automatically be directed to the next-highest version of PHP, version 5.3. The deactivation will be done step-by-step over all webhosting servers and all managed servers. |
